Hangs boldly, seems out of place.

My eyes are riveted on the Alaskan Range,

On Denali, ensconced like a king

holding court. His queen,

Foraker, sits in judgment next to him.

Both are sheered in clothes of granite,

Their whitened crevices bulky, weighed down

By cascading snows packed into glaciers

That move silently, imperceptibly,

their lines of browned avalanche dirt

Captured slowly over the centuries.

I peer down on death but also on life

And have this feeling

I am also looking out on God.
